Pastor Matthew Carpenter has served Grace Lutheran Church since August 2011. He graduated from Gywnedd-Mercy College with a B.A. in History Education in 2007. He went on to Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary and graduated with his Master of Divinity in 2011. He has been married to his wife Amanda for 7 years and they have 2 children. Pastor Matt enjoys leading worship, visiting members, and teaching confirmation. His hobbies include making jewelry, playing with his kids, and learning new things. Deann Hester is a lifelong member at Grace Lutheran Church. She has always been an active member and has been an acolyte, a member of the youth group, involved with Vacation Bible School, and is now the nursery attendant. Deann attended Saginaw Valley State University and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education, focusing on Early Childhood and Special Education. Deann has been our nursery attendant for over 10 years. During Children’s Chapel she reads familiar Bible stories to the children and discuss them. Deann loves to do crafts with the kids, especially on holidays such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, Easter, etc. Come join us and see how we teach our youngest members about the love of Jesus!
Dale Harwood was baptized and confirmed here at Grace. He studied piano and organ with Kaye Phelps and began playing the organ at Grace when in the 8th grade. After graduation from Central Michigan University, he moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area where he was organist at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Lorain, Ohio and then at Faith Lutheran in Lakewood, Ohio. He also was employed as a Senior Auditor in a bank in Cleveland. After retiring from his banking career he moved back to Tawas and has been the organist for 7 years, church treasurer for 7 years and the “office guy” for about three years.
